Glad to have my ipod back July 20, 2008 Choklat Lover (New Jersey) I have an ipod mini that i love and didn't want to replace because it's so sturdy and i have music on it that I don't have in my library anymore. I did some research on ihelp.com and found out I could replace my battery on my own. I watched the instructions as suggested on the other reviews cnet(?) and changed the battery. I didn't lose anything, my music is still there and I've charged it only a couple of times since. I have a few scratches from prying the pieces apart with the tools provided but I can live with that. You do have to put it back exactly in the order suggested on the internet instructions because one of the ends has to "click" in and you can't do it if the other piece is in place. The battery lasts so long. One thing to note, the wire is a little short to be placed like the original one so you put it in "backwards" and it works fine! by the way, ididn't use the written instructions at all so I can't comment on them at all but cnet is a freat substitute! I'm happy to have my ipod back!
$20 vs $140+ no brainer February 15, 2008 2 Point Bob (Louisville, Colorado, USA) to me this product was well worth the money. to my son....well, it cheated him out of a new iPod. if you've never repaired anything in your life, this is not for you. if you're concerned about the cosmetics of your iPod, this is not for you. if you use the supplied tools only, you *ARE* going to scratch or ding the edges of your iPod because you *ARE* using the little screwdriver to pry off the end plates. on the new battery, the location of where the battery wires originated were in a different location than the original, but the wires were longer, and did reach the connector that they needed to be plugged into. A little patience and careful tucking of the wires, and carefully re-assembling the iPod is required. looking at the internals of the iPod makes realize that Apple is making a bundle off these useful little music and video playing devices.
