As the name implies it's tough... August 25, 2008 Michael Smith (Atlanta, GA) I had my ipod for a month and I had nearly dropped it several times before I bought this case. It makes the ipod much easier to hold and the belt clip clips in very tightly so its difficult for someone to steal it. Nice case.
Great case. Not so great belt clip. August 9, 2008 M. L. Shanks (Columbia, MD USA) The case is 5 stars. The only new thing I have to say about the case is that I really like the fact that the button for the belt clip is anchored inside the case. Most of the other cases I've owned have had the button glued to the case - and, sooner or later, the glue weakens (usually resulting in the cased Ipod falling to the ground). The actual plastic alligator clip is not so great -- 2 to 2.5 stars because it isn't very durable. I've had two clips fail for the same reason. To open the clip so you can slip it over a belt, you need to press on two extensions at the top of the clip. Both clips failed when one of the extensions cracked - so that the clip could not be opened. Since I had to order replacement clips from the manufacturer, I know how long each one lasted. Clip 1 -- 49 days before failing Clip 2 -- 40 days before failing To be fair, I use my Ipod a lot. I operate the clip at least a dozen times a day. Even so, I don't have a crushing grip. The case can, of course, be used without the clip. But having the attachment button sticking out of the back of the case actually makes it a little inconvenient to shove the case into a pocket. The replacement clips are relatively cheap (around $2 each when I ordered them) but with shipping, the cost is around $5 each - depending on how many you order.
Great case with two drawbacks August 5, 2008 M. Metzger I've had this case for about two years, I think, and I'm very happy with it. With great skill, I've managed to accidentally knock my ipod off my desk many times, either by forgetting my headphones are on when I walk away, or by simply dropping it. The toughskin's traction makes it harder to drop, and it provides enough cushioning that the ipod has survived several falls without any damage. (Keep in mind that the rubber of the case makes getting it in and out of a tight pocket something of a challenge.) There's only two drawbacks: first off, the rubber of the case will mark up the surface of the ipod. It's completely superficial, but if you plan on taking the ipod out of the case for a beauty show, you're not going to win. I ended up buying one of those stick-on decals that protect the surface of the ipod. Second, the rubber stretches. Do NOT take your ipod out of the case (you're not winning any beauty shows) unless you really do need to, as the "mouth" around the screen will stretch out more and more. All in all, a great case for people who favor safety over style. (Although the big mean industrial rubber look is a lot cooler than that crocheted sock thing your girlfriend puts her ipod in.)
Lack of fit. July 26, 2008 JESUS LEMUS (Maracaibo) Product is not as expected because it does not have a good fit (loose) on new generation classic ipods. It is built for old generation ones with bigger dimensions. Not entirely happy with it.
Purchased for Grandson July 19, 2008 K. Rodman (Pennsylvania) I purchased this for my grandson and he said it was to bulky. I thought it was great and would protect his IPod but he tried it and said to bulky.
